• Lane access is the norm – we carry Colorbond sheets in from the lane and plan the build around parking and neighbours.
• Lap-and-cap timber suits the Federation and Victorian streetscapes of Haberfield, Summer Hill and Dulwich Hill; Colorbond in Monument is the low-maintenance choice on rear boundaries.
• Slat and louvre screens over existing fences are popular for privacy on tight blocks in Balmain, Rozelle and Marrickville.

Fence rules in Inner West Council

Under the NSW exempt development rules a boundary fence behind the building line can be up to 1.8 m high without approval on most residential lots.
