Do I need council approval for a fence in Gables?

Under the NSW exempt development rules a boundary fence behind the building line can be up to 1.8 m high without approval on most residential lots. The Hills Shire Council follows the state codes; rural-residential zones and estate covenants (Box Hill, The Gables, North Kellyville) add conditions. Pool barriers must comply with AS 1926.1-2012 regardless. We tell you what we see on site, but only The Hills Shire Council can confirm what applies to your property.

How is a shared boundary fence paid for?

Under the NSW Dividing Fences Act adjoining owners generally share the cost of a sufficient dividing fence equally. We give you a copy of the quote to pass to your Gables neighbour, and can quote each side separately if you prefer.

How soon can you start in Gables?
