What we install in Bayside

• Colorbond fencing – new boundary fences and replacements in 1.5 m to 2.4 m heights, any Colorbond colour, either sheet profile

Ground, access and local conditions

Mostly flat, sandy ground near the bay with salt air on the foreshore streets; older suburbs have brick front fences and tight side boundaries.

• Foreshore streets (Brighton-Le-Sands, Dolls Point, Sandringham) get salt spray – we advise aluminium for open front fencing and specify the fixings and post treatment for Colorbond.
• Narrow blocks mean neighbours often share the whole length of a fence; we quote so both sides have the figures.
• Aircraft-noise suburbs around Mascot and Rockdale often choose the taller 2.1 m Colorbond with a louvre or lattice top for privacy.

Fence rules in Bayside Council

Under the NSW exempt development rules a boundary fence behind the building line can be up to 1.8 m high without approval on most residential lots. Bayside Council follows those rules; several heritage conservation areas around Rockdale, Arncliffe and Bexley have their own front-fence controls.
