Local conditions: flat to gently sloping with clay soils; older suburbs have brick front fences and long shared side boundaries.

• Riverwood, Panania and Picnic Point blocks backing onto bushland use Colorbond for fire and termite resistance.
• Two-tone Colorbond (for example Primrose sheets with a Monument frame) is popular and costs the same as one colour.
• Duplex and granny-flat builds across Canterbury-Bankstown need new boundary fencing and often a 2.1 m fence for privacy – we advise on what is exempt.
