Do I need council approval for a fence in Merrylands?
Cumberland City Council follows the NSW rules: a standard 1.8 m boundary fence generally does not need approval; fences over 1.8 m, heritage-listed properties and solid front fences usually do. Check the council's exempt development rules or ask us – we cannot guarantee approval for any particular property.
How is a shared boundary fence paid for?
Under the NSW Dividing Fences Act adjoining owners generally share the cost of a sufficient dividing fence equally. We give you a copy of the quote to pass to your neighbour.
How soon can you start?
